Robert Morris

Robert Morris

Teacher

Mr. Robert Morris moved around a lot but was born in Rapid City, South Dakota. He has taught for 36 years and we are excited for Mr. Morris to be a part of our faculty family! He worked as a volunteer at a summer camp for mentally and physically challenged kids when he was in junior high and really enjoyed it. This led to him working at a daycare center while in high school. In college, he worked with teenagers from the Blackfoot and Flathead Indian Reservations, both during the school year as a tutor and in the summer as a live-in counselor. When his dream of being a Marine aviator didn't come true after college, he returned to education and has been teaching and coaching ever since. He enjoys building positive relationships with students and showing students how to build positive relationships with each other. He also loves teaching history and watching students develop an interest that will serve them for their entire lives. He coached track, cross-country, and boys' and girls' soccer for many years. His coaching highlight was coaching his son who took 4th in State in Shot Put as a junior at Idaho Falls High School. He enjoys jogging, hiking, camping, listening to his vinyl collection (mostly original stuff--yes, he is that old), and researching and writing about military history and sports history. He has published roughly 15 books. He is the proud father of three kids, aged 36, 34, and 31. They all live in Idaho Falls, and he has a total of 8 wonderful grandchildren. The oldest is a freshman at Skyline High School and the youngest just started her first day of kindergarten. He is married to Amber Morris. He Iearned to fly a small airplane at age 18 but hasn't flown much since. It is just too expensive! Philosophies he lives by? He is a big fan of John 3:16 as it reflects his personal beliefs. He also really likes the following poem by Langston Hughes: "Hold fast to dreams for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly.”
